Welcome to TheFifth Humour.com, the online home to Yale's original sketch comedy group! We're so glad you're here to check out some of our sketches, meet our players, or just quickly realize that we're not a parody group of British pop sensation Fifth Harmony and then X out.
The Fifth Humour is comprised of thirteen sketch comedy writers/performers. We hold shows on a near-monthly basis on Yale's campus, on top of performances in sketch comedy festivals around the country. If you're wondering what sketch comedy is, think SNL, Key and Peele, and Inside Amy Schumer. (Except more like SNL because we perform live and Donald Trump hates us.)
5H alumni have gone on to work shows such as Arrested Development, The Office, New Girl, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, CONAN, as well as Comedy Central, Upright Citizens Brigade, CollegeHumor The Onion and Clickhole. They have also gone on to write blockbuster comedy films like Dirty Grandpa.
One unique part of 5H is that every member both writes and performs. The two-to-four new Humours that we add every year have a range of comedy experience, from none at all to a starring role in the film Big Fat Liar (Paul Giamatti, Class of '89, has yet to respond to his acceptance email).
Beyond our role as a comedy group, The Fifth Humour is a tight-knit community and a group of friends. We spend more time together than is probably healthy and have age-old traditions from group retreats to annual themed shows that you have to see to believe. We push each other as comedians and cultivate each other as people. Enjoy the website, and see for yourself what this band of green-shirted hooligans is all about.
